Social Media For Business
IN THE BEGINNING …
Baby Boomers, Generation X, and most Millennials will likely remember The Yellow Pages. If you didn’t know where to get something, or just wanted to check pricing, you picked up the Yellow Pages. It was the #1 and sometimes, the only place to find where to get products and services. If your business was not listed in the Yellow Pages, it was unlikely that your potential customers would find you.
Enter The Internet
As the internet rolled into offices & living rooms through the late ’90s and early 2000, businesses began to create websites to engage their existing clientele and attract new customers. Now, as we close up the second decade of the 21st century, the Yellow Pages are on-line, and businesses have a whole new bag of tools for marketing, sales, and promotion.
Searching for You
As before, where if you weren’t in the Yellow Pages people were not likely to find you, if you do not have a website and are not active on Social Media, people are not likely to find your business. Think about it: What do you do when you want to purchase a product or service? You pick up your phone and … Not only can you find potential suppliers for what you’re looking for, you can compare pricing, get product details, and see what others have to say about both the product as well as the company offering it.
